Why a €595 ring and a €1,800 ring are not the same thing

The price isn't just the metal and the stone

When you buy an engagement ring, you're paying for many things that don't show up in the photo. Here's the real difference:

1. Gemstone certification

An uncertified lab-grown diamond can cost 10 times less than one certified by IGI or GIA. The difference: the certificate guarantees the real 4Cs (cut, color, clarity, carat weight). Without a certificate, you have no way to verify what you're wearing on your finger.

At BRAVORA: all our lab-grown diamonds come IGI-certified. Certificates are available to the customer.

2. The ring material

There's an enormous difference between:

• Gold-plated silver (gold plating): wears off in months with daily use. The plating is just microns thick.
• Gold-filled: better than plated, but not solid gold.
• Solid 14k or 18k gold: lasts a lifetime with basic maintenance. The karat indicates the percentage of real gold in the alloy (58.5% in 14k, 75% in 18k).

3. Real customization vs. catalog variants

Some competitors offer "customization" that in practice means choosing from 3 metals and 2 stone shapes from a fixed catalog using series templates.

Real customization means the ring is designed from scratch to your specifications: proportions, setting height, finish, engravings, material combinations that don't exist in any catalog.

4. The manufacturing process

A production ring is made in hours. An artisanal ring requires:

• Design video call with a gemology expert
• 3D render for approval before production
• Handcrafted in a Spanish workshop
• Quality control before shipping

That process has a cost in time and expertise that production rings don't have.

5. After-sales support

What happens if the ring needs resizing? If there's a manufacturing defect at 6 months? If the stone loosens?

At BRAVORA: we offer the first resizing free, a manufacturing warranty, and direct support with the team that made your ring. Not a call center. Not a generic form.

When does it make sense to pay less?

There are occasions when a more affordable ring is the right decision:

• For a surprise proposal when you don't know your partner's taste well and plan to choose the final ring together afterward
• If the budget is genuinely limited and the gesture matters more than the object
• For a temporary ring
